Tell us a little bit about your company. What products do you offer? My name is Danielle I specialize in creating organic, holistic health, wellness and natural calendula products to help soothe our customers with skin issues such as eczema, dry skin, diaper rash in babies, sunburns and much more. Our business is called Honey Shine Calendula. In 2018, I curated a recipe for our bestselling calendula salve from my late grandmother. Our business began May of 2020 and we have grown scaled our brand to create a new and beneficial dialogue about calendula and how it can bring healing.
Why did you start your business? The answer is My kids. It’s that simple. My son has really bad eczema when he was little and everything I tried didn’t work for his skin. I took what my grandmother taught me to create a product so safe and gentle on my child’s skin and do exactly what it’s supposed to do. Soothe, protect and moisturize my child’s skin. It worked so well my whole family used it. Then I began making it for family friends as gifts. And it turned into a business that is growing.
What sets you apart from other brands similar to yours? When I started this journey, I struggled to find a Calendula Product that checked all the boxes. I knew Calendula was the solution but it was always so poorly marketed. Very few people knew about calendula and it was always shown as an ingredient in a product instead of the star of the show. That was my mission to set the stage for such an important herb that has been used for centuries and bring a whole new awareness of it.

Where do you see the future of your business? Right now we are at the beginning of a whole new chapter. We just launched our Calendula salve in the big box store Erewhon in all locations within LA/Ventura County. With that comes new obstacles to cross off and new roads to venture. I am proud of the five years it took to build a brand from the ground up and see the fruits of my labor come around. Next year, my goal is to continue to scale our business, work closely with my distributor in securing more wholesale accounts and increase the brand education. I started this business to help people find a solution for their skin that is clean, natural and works.
